Turmares - Whale Watching - Tarifa - Spain

Turmares is a company dedicated to sea tourism with emphasis on "whale watching" in the Strait of Gibraltar.

Turmares takes you closer to the sea. Whale and Dolphin  watching in the Straits of Gibraltar on board of the Jackelin or Dolphin Safari cruisers, Rainbow Motorboat or Aroha Raji Sailboat represents an unforgettable experience.

You will be sailing the waters between two continents observing its unique living marine ecosystem. This area represents an important bird migration route and a fishing ground for killer whales and sperm whales. This area of Tarifa is the habitat of an inportant amount of marine mammals for either part or the entire year.

 Whale and Dolphin Watching

This is an ecotourism activity that benefits both the impact on resource use and the cetacean environment, therefore providing the ideal setting for the development of environmental education and scientific research.
In the Strait of Gibraltar, as stated in the Intercontinental Biosphere Reserve by UNESCO in 2006, up to seven species of cetaceans can be observed.

Resident species (can be seen all year):

Common dolphin, Striped dolphin, Bottlenose dolphin and Pilot Whale

Semi-resident species (presence depending on availability of food):

Orca (between July and September)
Sperm whale (mostly between March and July)

Migratory species (using the strait routes):

Fin whale  (mostly between May and July)
