Our outings<\/h3>\n\nWe sail through the central part of the Strait of Gibraltar looking for dolphins <\/strong>and\nwhales<\/strong>. In addition, you can always observe other marine species\nsuch as sunfish<\/strong>, tuna <\/strong>and birds<\/strong>.\n\nBy sailing for longer periods and extending the search area, in addition to the resident species there is a greater chance of locating whales <\/strong>and killer whales.<\/strong>\n\n

Responsible whale watching<\/h3>\n\nOur company is committed and responsible. All the members of our crew, together with the biologist-guides, have a wide knowledge and sensibility about the animals that help us to interpret their behavior, carrying out the sightings in a respectful way, complying with national and international regulations.\n\nWe participated as a consulting company for the drafting of Royal Decree 1727\/2007, of December 21, 2007, establishing measures for the protection of cetaceans in Spain. Also, at a worldwide level, we participated in the elaboration of the “Whale Watching Strategic Plan” carried out by the International Whaling Commission (IWC).<\/strong>\n\n

POLICY FOR CONSERVATION AND SUSTAINABLE TOURISM<\/h3>\n\nCetacean watching is considered an ecotourism activity, and as such, it presents a series of economic, social and scientific advantages, as it provides a greater environmental and cultural sensitivity to the visitor and the local population.
It is a useful and necessary tool for raising environmental awareness, since that which is best known is best conserved and protected.\n\n

For the location<\/h3>\n\nVisually, and with the help of binoculars, we look for blows, splashes of water when jumping, dorsal fins and the brightness of the water, among others.\n\n
<\/figure>\n\n

The approach<\/h3>\n\nSlowly and as best as possible, following the guidelines established by the Accobams regulations and Royal Decree 1727\/2007<\/i><\/strong>\n\nPhysical contact of boats or people\nwith cetaceans.\n\nFeeding the animals, throwing food, drinks,\nrubbish or any other type of object or substance.\n\nProducing loud or strident noises and sounds in an attempt to attract them or drive them away, including underwater sound emissions.\n\nSeparating or dispersing the group of cetaceans and,\nespecially, getting between an adult and its\ncalf.\n\nImpeding the free movement of cetaceans,\nintercepting their path, cutting off their passage or\npassing through a group of animals.\n\nBoats shall navigate at a maximum speed of 4 knots and no faster than the slowest animal in the group.\n\nThe approach to the cetaceans shall be made smoothly in the direction and course of the animals at an angle of 30\u00ba, never from the front, from behind or perpendicular to their trajectory.\n\nIt is important to keep navigation parallel to the animals and avoid sudden changes of course or speed.\n\nIf an animal approaches the vessel or suddenly appears\nwithin 60 metres of the vessel,\nthe master shall put the engine in neutral.\n\nIf elusive behavior is detected in the animals,\nthe area shall be abandoned and other groups shall be searched for.\n\nSwimming or diving with the animals.\n\n

RECOMMENDATIONS<\/strong><\/p>
Sun protection, hat, jacket and footwear fixed to the foot (avoid flip-flops). To prevent seasickness, it is advisable to take some medicine before boarding.<\/p>\n

RULES OF BEHAVIOUR<\/strong><\/p>\n

For the most respectful watching possible, we will approach the animals with caution to avoid disturbing them, and will use the distances, direction and speed recommended by the Spanish Legislation (RD 1727\/2007) and the ACCOBAMS Regulations.<\/p>\n

In addition, it is strictly forbidden to feed the animals or touch them, throw any object into the sea and shout.<\/p>\n

It is recommended not to run, to move slowly around the boat and to always have a point of support to better maintain balance. Minors must be accompanied by an adult at all times.<\/p>\n

INSURANCE<\/strong><\/p>\n

All passengers are covered by the Compulsory Passenger Insurance (Seguro Obligatorio de Viajeros, SOV) in accordance with RD 1575 of December 22, 1989.<\/p>\n\n
